Blogging and RSS
So what's the big deal with blogging?
Consider
blogging a marketing effort. People find websites via search engines
and search engines like text information. A great way to get found
online is by sharing information in a blog. You can provide your
contact information right in the blog itself or link back to your
website. Blogs can be a forum for businesses to showcase their skills
and provide real examples of how they can help their customers.
Blogging is also a good way to remain top-of mind with your clients
and prospects. Many people try to send out newsletters via email.
This is a very solid and sound tactic. Unfortunately, it's also a
task that often gets put off or ignored.
Blogging lets you put large amounts of information online in a relatively
informal matter. Just string together a few paragraphs to make a
point and you're in business. The tools make it easy, and there's
no danger of spamming.
RSS
RSS (Real Simple Syndication) is a standardized format of XML designed
to be frequently updated by an author and retrieved by subscribers.
A RSS feed is basically a small web page with no graphics and no
fonts. It's a page of titles articles that people (subscribers)
monitor through via computers or cell phones.
RSS is becoming more widely used every day. It's also becoming a
great way for businesses to communicate with clients, potentially
replacing the email newsletter. Because RSS feeds have to be subscribed
to, there's no chance of Spam. This makes RSS ideal for solving the
problems spam has caused for email newsletters.
